If you’re not the type of guy who wears suits regularly but you’re getting married or you’re about to head off to a black-tie event or even to a job interview, you might be feeling a bit anxious about hiring a suit. Fear not, at Munns we know how to make the whole process perfectly painless and even – we’ve been told –quite enjoyable!
Let’s Chat
When you first walk in the door we’ll have a brief introductory chat and then, if you’re unsure exactly what sort of look you’re after, we’ll show you our full range of jacket styles. We've got a nice range from morning and evening tails for those super-formal occasions right through to a good basic lounge suit jacket and trousers.
Sizing You Up
Next, we “size you up” - our expert team is so good at this that they can do it just by looking at you. Easy!
Choosing Your Style
The jacket tends to define the style of a suit so we will usually start trying jackets first. If a jacket isn't fitting so well we'll try various cuts. Some jackets look great on some guys, others not so much. We'll keep trying until we find a jacket with a cut that really suits you. Next, we'll pick out a pair of matching trousers and a shirt (we’ll pick a style that goes well with the style of your suit) and send you into the fitting room to try everything on together. If the trousers aren't quite right we'll give you another pair and we’ll keep going until we find a pair that works for you. Once we’ve nailed the perfect trousers we’ll check the length is correct. If it's not we do a quick measure and make a note so the hem can be adjusted.
It’s All in The Details
Then, if required, we’ll help you choose a tie or bowtie and a waistcoat. At this stage we'll ask about your partner's dress colour/fabric if you're off to a ball or if you’re getting married, we'll ask about the colours of the bridesmaids' dresses so the whole wedding party ties in well colour-wise.
Finishing Touches
We will also ask you about any other accessories you might require – shoes, a belt, a pocket square, and cufflinks – and we’ll show you our range so you can choose what works for you. Once all that's sorted every aspect of your outfit is noted down – right down to the tiniest detail – and the whole thing is put together and taken upstairs for any alterations that might be required. At this point, you can go home and relax!
Taking It Home
Finally, a day or so before the big event, you come into Munns and one of our team will pop up the stairs and locate your suit & related accessories and you can take the whole lot away with you.
Most suits are returned on the Monday following the event. The jackets, trousers, and waistcoats are sent away for dry-cleaning and shirts for laundering so everything is nicely clean, fresh, and pressed for the next customer.
