Kineta Booker: Micro Magic
Who says you can’t have a powerfully awesome small wedding? Kineta Booker explains what micro weddings are and who should book one.
Small but mighty. A tiny sentence packed with punch. And that’s exactly what you can expect from a micro wedding. Some people call them “intimate”, others “boutique” but micro has a better, more contemporary ring to it so let’s roll with that. So, why on earth would you opt for a micro wedding? Aren’t you meant to have the best and most brilliant day of your life? Well, of course you are, but who says you have to go big to have all of that? You can have everything a large, traditional wedding offers, but you invite fewer guests and celebrate in a shorter time frame.
If you agree to any of the following, a micro could be for you:
You want to get hitched to your life’s greatest love
You want to celebrate with your favourite friends and family
You want to look and feel the best you’ve ever been
You want to marry in a gorgeous place with plenty of space for beautiful photos
You want to be entertained and enjoy great food and wine.
Oh, so you agree with all of the above? Perfect! Read on.
When I say “micro” it doesn’t mean you have to cut corners on celebration or style. You get it all -just on a smaller scale, the micro-scale.
Here’s what makes a wedding a micro wedding:
You invite up to 30 guests
You hire a venue for two hours -but most venues will upgrade that to a half-day hire to stretch your celebrations out even further. That would be about five hours. (The perfect amount of time for anyone, I’d say!)
No rehearsal. Why waste your precious time acting out what will happen on your big day when you’re working closely with professionals who can guide you every step of the way? It makes your wedding so much more original and unrehearsed.
That’s it! Everything else can stay the same (or as different as you’d like) as every other wedding you’ve ever been to. The only different thing is you’re keeping it micro -in both time and guest numbers, which helps big time with your bank balance and the stress of planning a wedding when most micro wedding packages do it all for you.
So, if you’re looking to celebrate your love with your nearest and dearest, a micro wedding could well be the perfect choice for you.
